Dramatic snowflake obsidian and handcrafted sterling silver come together in Midnight Frost, a one-of-a-kind pair of earrings inspired by the contrast of winter-dark skies and scattered frost.
Each earring begins with a 13 × 18 mm oval snowflake obsidian cabochon, naturally patterned in shades of black, charcoal and silvery gray. Timothy individually set each stone on a sterling silver backplate, surrounding it with an ornate sterling silver gallery-wire bezel that frames the stone while allowing its distinctive natural pattern to remain the focus.
Above the cabochons, Timothy added coordinating obsidian and Czech glass beads, extending the black, gray and silver palette and adding subtle movement and dimension.
Finished on silver-plated leverbacks, the earrings measure approximately 2⅛ inches in total length. Because the markings within snowflake obsidian occur naturally, the two stones complement one another without being identical—part of what makes this pair entirely unique.
