Cotton Candy Sky Ring & Earring Set
Soft turquoise, blush pink, creamy white and flashes of warm metallic matrix come together in Cotton Candy Sky, a one-of-a-kind ring and earring set built around an unusual composite stone created by a lapidary artist.
Known by the lapidarist as Cotton Candy, the material combines turquoise with dyed dolomite, creating an abstract mosaic of color in which no two cabochons are alike. Timothy selected three coordinating stones for this set—a large oval for the ring and two teardrops for the earrings—allowing the individual patterns of each stone to become part of the design.
For the ring, Timothy set a 13 × 18 mm oval cabochon on a sterling silver backplate and surrounded it with sterling silver gallery wire, creating an ornate bezel that frames the stone while allowing its vivid pattern to remain the focus. The finished sterling silver ring is a size 7.
The earrings feature two 13 × 18 mm teardrop cabochons, each individually set by Timothy on a sterling silver backplate within a gallery-wire bezel. Czech glass beads in complementary tones add movement and draw out the turquoise and metallic notes within the stones. Silver-plated posts complete the earrings, which measure approximately 1¾ inches in total length.
Because the pattern within every Cotton Candy cabochon is unique—and because each setting was individually fabricated for its stone—this particular combination cannot be exactly duplicated.
