Each earring begins with an oval copper focal, individually enameled using a scroll technique that allows the colors to flow and interact during the firing process. Layers of cobalt blue, periwinkle, aqua, green and touches of lighter color create fluid patterns reminiscent of foliage reflected in moving water.
Because the scroll technique develops differently on each piece, the two enamel focals are intentionally complementary rather than identical—one of the characteristics that makes handcrafted enamel so distinctive.
Coordinating Czech glass beads in shades of green and soft blue carry the colors upward from the enamel and add dimension and movement. The earrings are finished on silver-plated ear wires.
